Our Core Values
Author Christine Bryden was first diagnosed with dementia in 1995. Ten years later, she explained how to connect to someone living with dementia in her book Dancing with Dementia:
“Try to enter our distorted reality, because if you make us fit into your reality, it will cause us extra stress. You need to enter into our reality, connect with us by touch, or by look. You need to be authentically present, not far away. You need to realise that we are not far away or lost, but trapped by an inability to communicate and to think clearly, to express this strange mixed-up world being created by our brain damage. Think about this inner reality that we are experiencing, and try to connect with it. Be imaginative, be creative, try to step across the divide between our worlds.”
At LuxuryCare, bridging this divide is our ultimate goal.
By working together to create individualised care plans, we empower the people in our care to live as independently as possible. We support the retention of daily life skills to help our residents maintain their abilities for as long as possible, and provide tailored support to meet the unique needs of each person.
We enlist the support of relevant professional services and organisations to help us achieve this. We may work with psychologists, general practitioners, dieticians, community mental health nurses, occupational therapists, and others to guarantee our residents receive the best care possible.
We treasure the relationships that we build with our residents and their families, and we’ll continue to work together to create a warm and welcoming environment that truly feels like home.
A Holistic Approach to Care
We take a holistic approach to care, recognising that our residents’ physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs are all interconnected. We work hard to help them feel at home, providing the high quality of care they need while encouraging them to build relationships with family, friends, and other residents. We also offer support to families and friends wherever we can.
By taking on this approach, we give the people in our care the tools and support they need to live the full, varied, and joyful life they deserve.
