Individually Tailored Care in a Welcoming Environment
At Seabourne House, we understand the difficulties people face in old age, especially when suffering from dementia. That is why we aim to preserve, or if possible, improve quality of life for all residents. We do this by drawing up an individual care plan for each resident in conjunction with his or her family. No two people are the same, and at Seabourne House, their care will be as individual as they are.
We strive to provide the highest standard of care, not just for residents’ physical health, but also their emotional wellbeing. We understand that when someone is suffering from dementia, they cannot always tell us what they mean. This is why we take the trouble to interpret signals in their behaviour, taking into account what we know of their backgrounds from families and friends, in order to build a complete picture of the individual and meet their needs. It is this basic respect for the individuality of our residents that has brought us recognition as one of the best retirement homes in Bournemouth.
The physical environment here has been specially designed to help our residents navigate it with ease. Name plaques and familiar images on residents’ doors help them recognise their rooms, and the house is decorated using bright colours and lighting to aid those with deteriorating sight. Meals are freshly prepared on site, and all dietary requirements are catered for. The atmosphere is friendly and sociable, and while all necessary security measures are in place, they are as unobtrusive as possible, so that residents feel they still have a degree of independence.
