Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. Alzheimer’s Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many of our 25,000 members have personal experience of dementia, as carers, health professionals or people with dementia themselves, and their experiences help to inform our work. The Society’s fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through our branches, we touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers. Every year, more than a million people make use of the information we provide.

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Their aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone, whether that’s in hospital, in care homes, in people’s own homes, or elsewhere. They regulate health and adult social care services, including the the NHS and private companies.

The Directgov website provides information and services from a variety of UK government departments and agencies. The information ranges from care homes right through to DVLA.

Help the Aged is an international charity fighting to free older people from poverty, isolation and neglect. Our mission is to work for disadvantaged older people. We research their needs, campaign for their rights, and provide vital services. On 1 April 2009, Age Concern England and Help the Aged joined together to create a new charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people.

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service, known as PALS, has been introduced to ensure that the NHS listens to patients, their relatives, carers and friends, and answers their questions and resolves their concerns as quickly as possible. PALS also helps the NHS to improve services by listening to what matters to patients and their loved ones and making changes, when appropriate. PALS provides information about the NHS and helps with any health-related enquiry.
