Aranlaw House employs over 40 staff. During your stay here you may meet some or all of the staff listed below:

The Registered Provider

Kevin Gunputh of 17 Lakeside Road, Poole, BH13 6LS (www.luxurycare.co.uk) looks to enhance all facilities including environment and care practice to ensure that Aranlaw House continues to be a market leader. His experience includes all aspects of working in a care home from kitchen work through to providing personal care as well as management of a care home portfolio.

The Management Team

StaffLisa Barnes is our Managing Care Coordinator who supports Kate in her daily running of the Care Home. Lisa qualified as an RGN and has had a long and varied career history. Her previous roles included work with BUPA, Zetland Court, Branch manager of Essential Nursing Agency, Clinical Site Manager at Bournemouth Hospital as well as hospital positions in surgical, medical, accident and emergency, elderly and orthopaedic units in both private and NHS Hospitals.

With a hands on approach, Lisa enjoys working closely with both Staff and Residents to ensure that needs are not only met but recognised and addressed appropriately.

She has completed various specialist courses in nursing, mentoring, leadership and recruitment and selection as well gaining certificates in diabetes, safeguarding children, health and safety and such like.

Kate Hickson is the registered manager or Aranlaw House Care Home. She entered the care sector in 1984 when she and her husband converted and registered a Care Home for 8 persons. Having successfully established and registered this Home for a further 4 persons, 12 in total, Kate sold the Home and purchased Aranlaw House Care Home in 1986.

Aranlaw House Care Home was sold to ‘Gunputh Associates Ltd’ in June 2003. Kate retained her position as Manager under the new company for a further 2 years and was on hand during the rebuild to pass her on expertise regarding the external structure and internal furnishings of the new building.

Sandie Gray works as a Deputy Manager. She has worked in both residential and community care and also completed an award in management, NVQ 4 in Care, A1 Assessors award as well as various short courses in administration of medication, staff supervision and such like.

Deborah Loader, having previously been a Care Home Manager, also compliments our Management Team as a Deputy Manager. Debbie has completed her NVQ 4 in Care and is currently undertaking her Registered Managers Award. She has a particular interest in dementia and creating a workable person centred approach.

Lorraine McLoughlin makes up the final piece of our management team. Lorraine is currently completing her NVQ 4 and was previously a Care Team Manager and Deputy Manager at other reputable Care Homes. Her particular areas of interest are dementia and medication.

Senior Carers

The Seniors Carers at Aranlaw House are directly responsible to the Deputy Managers. The Seniors deputise for the Deputy Managers in their absence and have specific areas of responsibility that contribute to the smooth running of the Care Home.

They also co-ordinate staff, ensuring they are deployed appropriately; they assist in all admissions of new service users as well as administering medication, arranging GP and community nurse visits to ensure your needs are being met during your stay at Aranlaw House.

Health Care Assistants

The Health Care Assistants at Aranlaw House work a variety of shifts throughout the day and night; they will provide you with support and assistance to achieve your personal care. The level of assistance they provide you with is determined by your care plan and could range from providing you with minimal assistance through to full assistance with all aspects of your personal care.

The Activities Co-ordinator

Aranlaw House has staff that are specifically employed to organise a range of activities. The co-ordinator has specific experience of arranging activities with groups and individuals.

The Cook and Kitchen Assistants

Meals at Aranlaw House are prepared and cooked by our resident cooks with the support of kitchen assistants. Our cooks have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide Residents with a varied, wholesome and nutritious diet.

The Housekeeping Staff

Aranlaw House is kept clean by a team of domestic staff who will often be seen cleaning communal areas. They will also keep your room clean during your stay.

Laundry Assistant

The laundry assistant works part time at Aranlaw House to wash and iron any of your personal items that need laundering during your stay.

Staff Qualifications and Training

Aranlaw House Care Home is committed to ensuring its staff are suitably qualified to carry out their duties. The staff at Aranlaw House have a range of qualifications that are appropriate to their roles and responsibilities. The majority of our Managers and Care staff have National Vocational Qualification in Care (NVQs). There is an ongoing programme of NVQ training which other staff are currently undertaking. Staff also regularly participate in various short courses that are specifically designed to increase their knowledge and enhance their skills thereby enabling them to provide a high quality service to the individuals who stay here at Aranlaw House.
