CareersWe ensure the protection of our residents by implementing robust staff recruitment procedures.  All staff are thoroughly checked before starting employment with us, including enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosures. Staff training needs are constantly monitored and reviewed to ensure that the appropriate skills and numbers of staff available match those required for the quality care and support of our residents.  All staff are trained in safeguarding measures and how to recognise and report any concerns.

 

 

Staff Training

We feel that it is of the utmost importance for staff to receive training appropriate to their roles at our Care Homes.  We use a variety of training methods to ensure existing staff skills are enhanced and new skills developed. We have our own training officer and also access other external training sources, such as that provided by Bournemouth and Poole Primary Care Trust (PCT), Dorset County Council, Bournemouth Borough Council and Bournemouth and Poole College, including NVQ levels 2, 3 and 4. As a minimum, our in house training completed by our Training Officer, Sandie Gray includes the following: -

Communication, Challenging Behaviour, Confidentiality, Control of Substances Harmful to Health (COSHH), Continence Promotion, Dementia, Develop as a Worker, Fire Training, First Aid Awareness, Food Hygiene, Hand Hygiene, Health and Safety, Induction Awareness, Infection Control, Medication Administration, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Moving and Handling Assessment, Moving and Handling Theory, Moving and Handling Practical, Nutrition and Diet, Person Centred Care, Principles of Care,  Record Keeping, Risk Assessment, Role of the Care Worker, Safeguarding/Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA), Supervision and Appraisal and Understand Your Organisation.
